'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Is Now Filming & a Tom Holland Photo Already Leaked

Image
Hopefully Underoos has stopped feeling funny, 'cause it's time to go back to work! Tom Holland already revealed that the sequel to " Spider-Man: Homecoming " is called " Spider-Man: Far From Home ." It starts filming in July for its release next July. It is now officially July (huzzah!), and it looks like the Spidey sequel is now filming over in the United Kingdom -- in keeping with the whole "Far From Home" concept. (Marvel boss Kevin Feige said the movie would take Peter Parker to Europe with friends over summer break.) On Monday, a fan spotted Tom Holland in what was reportedly Bishop's Stortford, England: Casually starting off the week by watching Tom Holland walk onto set where they're filming the new Spider-Man movie, just around the corner from where I live. pic.twitter.com/folz0ooCMi — Sophie Playle (@sophieplayle) July 2, 2018 It's just an abandoned building! Did 'Avengers 4' Cinematographer Leak the Film's Title or Not?

Image
The " Avengers 4 " title is going to be released toward the end of this year, after we get a "Captain Marvel" teaser . Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige already said that. He also shot down the rumor that the film was titled "Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet." But what about "Avengers: End Game"? Omega Underground tracked down a credits page for cinematographer Trent Opaloch. He's been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while, as cinematographer on "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Captain America: Civil War," "Avengers: Infinity War," and ... on IMDb his most recent movie is listed as "Untitled Avengers Movie," but on his website it's "Avengers: End Game." As Omega later noted, Opaloch subsequently updated his website by changing both "Avengers" titles to numerals -- "Avengers 3: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4." So does that mean we're in Doct...

'Doctor Strange' Director Quits TNT's 'Snowpiercer' Over 'Radically Different Vision'

Image
You know Bong Joon-ho's fantastic 2013 movie " Snowpiercer " with Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton? It's adapted from a French graphic novel, and being adapted again for television on TNT. " Doctor Strange " director Scott Derrickson was supposed to direct the pilot. In fact, he did . However, according to The Playlist , after the pilot was shot, showrunner Josh Friedman was replaced by Graeme Manson, and things are now on a completely different track. It's not the track Derrickson wants to be on, so he's getting off the train. He made that clear onTwitter: The 72-page Snowpiercer TV pilot script by @Josh_Friedman is the best I've ever read. The feature-length pilot I made from that script may be my best work. The new show runner has a radically different vision for the show. I am forgoing my option to direct the extreme reshoots. — Scott Derrickson (@scottderrickson) June 29, 2018 i'm excited to see it x — nina theda black (@nina...

'Men in Black' Spinoff Casts Kumail Nanjiani, 'Jurassic' Villain, and Twin Dancers

Image
We're all getting tired of spinoffs and reboots, but come on. You have to admit the " Men in Black " spinoff cast is hype-worthy. "Thor: Ragnarok" stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson lead the new cast, with Liam Neeson joining the team not too long ago as the head of the Men in Black's U.K. branch, where the movie begins. Now, reports from TheWrap and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed four more names: Kumail Nanjiani ("The Big Sick," "Silicon Valley") Rafe Spall ("Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," "Hot Fuzz," "Black Mirror") French street dancers Les Twins, aka Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois ("World of Dance") The movie -- directed by F. Gary Gray ("The Fate of the Furious") -- has reportedly started filming in London. Not much has been released about the plot, but it will be set in the same world as the original trilogy, and it's said to pic...

Box Office: 'Jurassic World 2' Defeats 'Incredibles 2' Again, 'Sicario 2' Tops Original

Image
Dino-might was unbeatable as the box office kissed June 2018 goodbye. " Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom " only made $60 million in its second weekend -- a drop of 59 percent from last week , and $20 million less than " Incredibles 2 " made in its second weekend -- but it was enough to be No. 1. So far, the "Jurassic World" sequel has picked up $264.7 million in its domestic release and a whopping $667.6 million from overseas, where it opened several weeks ago. "Jurassic World 2" is currently sitting at $932,387,335 in total grosses so far, knock-knock-knockin' on billion's door for some point after Fourth of July week. That's a LOT of people crying for a Brachiosaurus . "Incredibles 2" took second to "Jurassic World 2" for a second straight week, this time with $45.5 million. But "Incredibles 2" opened one week earlier, and its $180 million opening and $80 million second week both outperformed the...

‘Sicario: Day of Soldado’ Director Stefano Sollima on How the Franchise is Just Like the ‘Alien’ Series

Image
Chances are, if you've seen Denis Villeneuve 's 2015 thriller " Sicario ," you were riveted. The tale of a morally compromised CIA agent ( Josh Brolin ), who teams with a Mexican associate ( Benicio del Toro ) and a plucky young agent ( Emily Blunt ) following some gruesome murders on this side of the border, it was the kind of stark, uncompromising movie that created a nearly unbearable level of tension and suspense with each passing moment. It was also the type of movie whose world was rich and expansive enough that it practically begged for a follow-up. And that follow-up is finally here, in the form of " Sicario: Day of the Soldado ," a movie that reunites Brolin and del Toro (Blunt sat this one out), for a story of escalating violence in Mexico and the ways in which the American government both facilitates and reinforces that violence. And when things get out of hand, it's up to del Toro's Alejandro to make a very difficult choice. The less yo...

Jim Carrey Might be the Villain in 'Sonic The Hedgehog' Movie

Image
Jim Carrey is in talks to play the villain in the upcoming "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie, according to Variety . He'd be playing Dr. Robotnik, a mad scientist and Sonic's archenemy. James Marsden previously signed on to play the beloved blue hedgehog in the film that will blend live-action and computer graphics. Tika Sumpter ("Southside With You") has also been cast in an unspecified role. Sega launched the Sonic game in 1991 and has sold more than 360 million copies to date across all platforms. In the game, Sonic must defeat Robotnik, a scientist who has (gasp!) imprisoned animals in robots and stolen Chaos Emeralds. The film is getting the primo holiday release date of November 15, 2019. Jeff Fowler, who received an Oscar nomination for his 2005 animated short "Gopher Broke," is directing. Among the producers is " Deadpool " director Tim Miller, so we are expecting snark as well as shenanigans. Carrey's next project? Showtime...

John Boyega Gives Surprise Jedi Lessons to Kids at His Old School

Image
Okay, yes, we know that Finn ( John Boyega ) is NOT a Jedi, even though he wields a mean lightsaber. But starstruck kids at a London school weren't nitpicking when the " Star Wars: The Last Jedi " star surprised them during a PE class. Boyega dropped in unannounced to his former elementary school, Oliver Goldsmith Primary School in London, where the students were undergoing a "Train Like a Jedi" fitness lesson. The kids were thrilled to have the celeb join their class. "I thought I was living in a dream," one girl told ITV. Another student said he initially thought Boyega was a robot. (Now that's one fan theory we don't think we've heard before!) Such an amazing day being back at my old school training with these amazing kids. Thank you to Oliver Goldsmith primary school for having me back ❤️ https://t.co/CcDDSXmwwt — John Boyega (@JohnBoyega) June 27, 2018 Boyega back home in Camberwell. 'In the Fade' Director Hired for 'Firestarter' Remake

Image
The remake of Stephen King's " Firestarter " now has a director: Variety reports that German director Fatih Akin has signed on. Akin's " In the Fade " earned star Diane Kruger a Best Actress award at Cannes and won a Best Foreign Film Golden Globe. Previously, Akin won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for his 2004 film " Head On ." Akiva Goldsman and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions will produce the new "Firestarter," based on a script by Scott Teems (of TV shows "Rectify" and "Narcos"). No cast has yet been announced: In the 1984 film, Drew Barrymore starred as the girl with pyrokinetic abilities. She's abducted by a secret government agency, headed by villains played by Martin Sheen and George C. Scott , who want to turn her into a weapon. In other words, a lot like "Stranger Things" and Eleven, but with lots of fire instead of nose bleeds and Eggos. [Via Variety ] from Movie...

Colin Trevorrow Wants To Bring Back Laura Dern and Sam Neill for 'Jurassic World 3'

Image
Fans welcomed the return of Ian Malcolm ( Jeff Goldblum ) in " Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ," so why not bring back more of the original " Jurassic Park " stars? Colin Trevorrow , who wrote and directed " Jurassic World ," co-wrote "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," and will be directing the third "Jurassic World," says he'd love to bring back Ellie Satler ( Laura Dern ) and Alan Grant ( Sam Neill ). On MTV's "Seen It, Spill It, " Trevorrow said, "We felt like ["Fallen Kingdom"] was Malcolm's return, this was his moment... let him have his moment. I feel that way about everyone, especially Laura [Dern] in that she never got to have her own movie... that's important." So, would the focus be on Dern in the third film? We'd be down with that, but given how little screen time Goldblum got in "Fallen Kingdom," that's highly doubtful. What about the return of Dr. Grant? Trev...

Mark Hamill Doesn't Want to 'Strong-Arm' James Gunn Into Hiring Him

Image
After Mark Hamill tweeted that he'd love to be in the third "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie , he and director James Gunn (who happens to be his neighbor), hung out. So they totally discussed what role he should play, right? Nope. At the Saturn Awards (where he won Best Actor for " Star Wars: The Last Jedi ,") Hamill told Collider that the two talked about "living in Malibu, our relatives and pets," but that the Marvel sequel "never really came up." Hamill said, "I didn't want to strong-arm in any way. I love the movies, they're fun, but I'm happy to be in the audience. There's a lot less pressure." He then joked that that's why he preferred the Hamill-less "Star Wars" films "Rogue One" and "Han Solo." As to whether we'll see Luke in " Star Wars: Episode IX ," Hamill said he hasn't heard anything. "I'm the last to know," he said. "I like it ...

Freeform Cancels 'Famous in Love' After 2 Seasons

Image
Freeform is calling "cut!" on the Hollywood-set drama "Famous in Love" after two seasons. Its May 30 season finale will be its last unless the show is rescued by another outlet. The series came from "Pretty Little Liars" creator I. Marlene King and told the story of an aspiring actress (Bella Thorne) who lands the role of a lifetime in a big-budget blockbuster and embarks on the roller coaster ride of celebrity life. Rumors began swirling earlier this week about the show's cancellation and Thorne tweeted that she was "upset" to find out her show has possibly been canceled without the courtesy of a phone call: If this is how I find out our show is canceled..I'm going to be so upset. Very hurtful freeform. I woulda liked a phone call maybe. https://t.co/B6Q5BX8hkt — BITCHIMBELLATHORNE (@bellathorne) June 26, 2018 Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Freeform wanted a third season of "Famous in Love" and asked Hulu to p...

Rian Johnson's New 'Star Wars' Trilogy Could Be Ready as Soon as 2020

Image
Lucasfilm may be putting more spinoffs like "Solo" on hold , but it's moving full hyperspace speed ahead with the announced trilogy being created by "Star Wars: Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson. In an interview with Israel's From the Grapevine , Johnson's producing partner Ram Bergman teased that this new trilogy could arrive as soon as 2020. "It's all new characters. Everything is new," Bergman explained. And when asked about releasing the first film, he added, "I can't tell you because we don't know yet. Maybe in two years; it's just in the early stages." With "Episode IX" slated for release December 2019, that would leave a hole in the "Star Wars" schedule for 2020, especially if the reports are true about Lucasfilm putting the brakes on spinoffs. The company had been developing standalones around Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett, and previously, the spinoffs alternated with the episodic movies...

‘Sicario: Day of Soldado’ Producer Says Emily Blunt’s Character Could Return

Image
" Sicario: Day of Soldado " is remarkable for a number of reasons. It's one of those "they don't make them like that anymore" movies, where incredible dramatic performances (led by Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin ) anchor a film that is full of suspense and intelligent plotting. (And it's R-rated, so no kiddie stuff either!) It's also remarkable for being an independent-financed entry in a brand-new franchise (which began with 2015's Denis Villenueve -directed " Sicario "). These are very hard to come by and the recent cinematic landscape is littered with ambitious, but ultimately, failed attempts at franchise expansion (we love you " Blade Runner 2049 ," but you didn't move the needle). It's a fascinating and brilliantly bold move, so we were thrilled to get to chat with producer Trent Luckinbill, who runs (alongside his brother, Thad Luckinbill , and Molly Smith) Black Label Media, a kind of boutique production a...

Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet in Talks For Greta Gerwig's 'Little Women'

Image
The "Lady Bird" team is looking to fly together again. Greta Gerwig has chosen her next directorial project, an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic tale "Little Women." Her "Lady Bird" stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet are in talks to join the cast, as are Meryl Streep, Emma Stone and Florence Pugh. "Little Women" tells the story of the four March sisters — Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy — as they come of age during the Civil War. Streep would play Marmee, the benevolent and wise matriarch. Ronan would play plucky protagonist Jo, while Stone would be elder sister Meg. Chalamet would play Laurie, the boy next door and a love interest for Jo. Gerwig was previously set to write the script for the project, but now has taken on directing duties as well. She earned accolades for "Lady Bird," including Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. "Little Women" has been adapted numerous times, including a r...

14 Things You Never Knew About 'The Dark Knight' on its 10th Anniversary

Image
Can you believe it's been a decade since " The Dark Knight " hit theaters? Even ten years and a reboot or two later, his film is still widely regarded as the best Batman movie ever made. So let's celebrate this anniversary by exploring some fun trivia about Christopher Nolan 's Batman opus. 1. "The Dark Knight" became the first superhero movie to reach the billion dollar mark at the box office (though certainly not the last). It made more money in its first week of release than " Batman Begins " did in its entire theatrical run. 2. Heath Ledger specifically wanted to create an interpretation of Joker that didn't replicate Jack Nicholson 's performance in " Batman ." To do so, he modeled his performance mainly on rocker Sid Vicious and Malcolm McDowell 's character from " A Clockwork Orange ." 3. Katie Holmes declined to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes, forcing Nolan to seek out a replacement. Prior to...

Image
Julia Roberts is just a girl, standing in front of a new Amazon series, asking you to love it. America's Sweetheart is heading to TV -- or at least streaming -- with the new psychological thriller series "Homecoming." Entertainment Weekly just posted some first look photos, with the series following Roberts as Heidi, a Homecoming Transition Support Center caseworker who helps recently returned soldier Walter (Stephan James) transition to everyday life after deployment. "But as the pair get closer, Heidi begins to realize that Homecoming has much more nefarious motives than simply helping these soldiers." The series was adapted from the podcast "Homecoming," but with some new twists. Amazon already ordered two seasons , with "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail directing all of the first 10 episodes and executive producing the series.
